due care and attention
my 80 year old father pleaded guilty to this offence so did not have to attend the hearing that was yesterday. i phoned the court today who said the case had been ajourned till december 4th. just wondering why this might have happened as he did plead guilty but his mitigation short ????

The court may be considering disqualification. If they are your father will be given the opportunity to attend the next hearing to explain what effect such action may have upon him and others.
Magistrates do not usually like to disqualify a driver for an offence which carries an optional disqualification (as this does) without giving the defendant one opportunity to attend. If your father does not attend the case will go ahead in his absence. He should be written to shortly explaining the court's reasons for the adjournment.
