Is this a wind-up...?
Thick thieving scrounger comes to mind.
" is there a chance of sentence and how long for?"
One would hope so, but, given the massive overcrowding, unlikely. I am always a bit wary when someone asks me advice 'about a friend of mine' Why don't they just come out with it and admit the advice is for themselves??
If there is no proof for any of these charges then they have nothing to fear. If they are charged and taken to court they will surely walk away without a stain on their character.
"is there a chance of sentence and how long for?"

Hopefully yes and just to teach 'em a lesson, i hope a heavy fine and a sentence.

Play with fire, you get burned........fact of life, pal
Er, it's stating the bleeding obvious but the answer to the first question is in the same sentence. No, there's no chance whatsoever of a sentence if there's NO PROOF as you say. The law in this country requires proof before conviction (certainly before criminal conviction anyway).

As for the second, I don't know enough about it but I would imagine it would depend how much money is relevant. I doubt it would see jail time for a first offence of minor amounts. And of course there will be no sentence without a charge and no charge unless they've actually been caught working on the side. Have they been? You don't actually say.
if they have charged you - it is you, isnt it not a "someone" ? with withdrawing £300 from someone's account they must have some sort of proof .,camera ?
I find it hard to believe that anyone would leave £1000 in a vehicle and you would have to be caught red handed at that or was it items to the value of £1000 and you were caught with said items ?
Is it your first offence ? if not them expect a custodial sentence.
