One of my sisters has worked in a small hotel for years for a husband and wife. The husband died so the widow decided to sell up. My brother in law (a joiner) did a load of work for her. Unbeknowst to them, she made a sale and did a flit in the middle of the night. She owes my sis a months wages and owes my brother in law £3,000. He is a one man outfit and can't afford to stand this loss.
The new hotel owners have no forwarding address. The solicitor and estate agent also have no forwarding address.
Any suggestions please?

Does she have kids that go to school or may have facebook?
Question Author
Tried that - they say it is a civil matter
Have you posted this before Mrs O?
Try googling her - it is a long shot but you just never know.
I think some trace agents do a no find no fee service (according to a friend of mine who has used them). Difficult if she has only just gone though if she is not yet established anywhere else.

When did she go?

I'm not sure how the Census works but could there be traceable records from that somewhere?

Does the widow have an unusual name?
Did she sell the property? There will be bank accounts held in her name - not sure how that would help.
What line of work was the daughter/her husband in?

Get as much information as possible - there is surely a way that the combined efforts of AB can find one little old lady.

If she moved did she use a removals company?

She has certainly left a trail - if you need any help I need something to get my teeth into just now.

Did she have a computer -could one of ABs techie boys trace an IP address from that?
Question Author
wolf, from what I can gather, she had a removal van come - in the dead of night.

I'll have to try and contact my sis re the woman's email address. I think it was specific to the business though
Try the post office for a forwarding address.

Also, try some of the hotel suppliers, and other hotel operators she may have been friendly with. It is a long painstaking process, but, a name here, a city there, a story and eventually you should buildup a background picture which will give you a clue where to look

If you hire a professional, it will be very expensive, and usually they will only handle it as a job; so when the money runs out, they instantly lose interest.

Make an appointment with someone at the police station. If you are straight with them and can get their advice, they can be extremely useful in pointing-you-in-the-right-direction. Take you time and don't damand; say thank you for whatever they may or may not give you.

I just googled trace debtors and there seem to be quite a few no find no fee companies out there.
