My Partner's daughter would like to be officially adopted by him. She is nearly 18 years old so it's too late for a child adoption. How do you go about an adult adoption?
Thank's..... She already has his surname, as it was changed when he married her mother. He was going to adopt her when she was 14 but her mum left him and the kids for another man so never got to do it. the daughter has only recently realised she's not officaly adopted and said she still wants to be.
No he's not her birth father She was out of a teen pregnancy. but he's been in her life since she was a toddler and married her mother when she was 10 years.
Thanks for advice.... i've emailed adoption uk.... just think its stupid that even though she's 17 mother still has to instigate it and she won't. keep them coming be good to get other's experiences and advice :)
The problem is that it will take to long and the mother needs to instigate things. but she is refusing very selfish woman. had afair and left family 4 years ago. still with other guy but also refusing divorce.
It's such a crap system.... we're meant to be ahead of the times in england. a friend of mine did mention that she knew someone who'd managed it was hoping to get a bit more advice on here. I just also think its unfair for all those who want to be adopted and because of selfish parents and the system can't be.... it add's to a sense of belonging....
Chuck appreciate your opinion but i too am adopted..... and this is something very much wanted by my partner's step daughter.... she's been through enough having her mum up and leave family for another person and everything she still experiences with her mum putting work etc first....
