Hi hope someone can help 15 years ago during an argument with my ex I hit him across the face we were in a pub and I had a bottle in my hand it sounds awful but there were many mitigating circumstances leading to the events that night, I did not intend to hurt my then partner who I loved at the time with all my heart it was a reckless moment that I wish had never happened and am now worried I may not be able to go on holiday to America. Can any one help.

GBH without intent doesn't seem to be a crime of "moral turpitude".

Fill in your ESTA here: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/
It costs $14. If they still have your record on their files it will show up and you will have to attend an interview in London to get your ESTA.
If it dosn't show up you will be accepted for your ESTA and be OK to travel to the USA.
What senetence did you get for the s20?
The conviction should be 'Spent' by now so you can truthfully say you have no convictions.
The time it takes for a conviction to become 'spent' depends on the sentence not the offence .
Only the conviction counts to get a US visa the resons it happened are not looked at.
It looks like you will have to attend an interview in London as The Rehabilitations of Offenders Act dosen't apply for entry into USA. The conviction dosen't become spent for this purpose.

A neigbour of ours did this recently (ABH about 20 years ago).
It was all very quick and easy. Only drag is the expence of travelling to London and back.
The US has no access to UK criminal records. The only way they will find out is if YOU tell them. Fill in the ESTA on line, answer no to any crime involving moral turpitude.
Americans are obsessed with crime, they want anyone who breaks the law executed.
