It was a business/risk decision on the part on the insurance co as it was for the guy who has bought it.
I don't see why there should be any comeback on you.

Do you mean you had a crash and the insurance wrote off the car, but now it has been put back on the road? If so this is common you have had the payout and there is nothing you can do now, by accepting the payment you have signed the car over to the insurance company it is their property now , they can do what ever they want with it.
Sounds like your car has been written off as B.E.R (Beyond Economic Repair) by your insurance company, i.e it'd cost more to fix than its insured value, however since another party has decided that they'll spend the money to repair the vehicle then as the car is now the property of your insurance company, then they can do with it as they wish.
However, since the car had been written off by the insurer, why would you want to keep any keys relating to the car? Only a question, I'd have given the keys back to the insurers, as the car became their property as a result of the insurance write-off, therefore no-one could ask for any keys from you.

Nibble - I had a car that was written off. It was at a garage being assessed and the moment I agreed to the insurance pay off it was whisked away to a car pound. My belongings that were in the car were returned in a cardboard box, apart from the CDs in the autochanger...grrr.
I was contacted by the guy who bought the car at auction to see if there was a spare key, having had no opportunity to handover the key I was quite happy to send it on to the new owner.
