mobile phone query

I need to buy a new mobile phone (drove my car over mine) - I use pay as you go with vodafone - how can I keep my existing mobile number please? I'm not at all technically minded so please use very simple terms! Thank you

There shouldn't be a problem. I recently changed mine. Ask the phone shop

they will give you a 'telephone portal code' when you ask ... and you give this to your new provider!

thank you both very much - cathfromsaron - I'm only getting a new phone , not changing provider - all I want to do is keep everything the same except with a new mobile phone.

You should be able to just put the sim card from your old phone into your new one.

^ what jimjools says - every time I get a new phone, I just take the sim card out of the old one and put it in the new one. Make sure that the phone numbers you need are on the sim though, not on the old phone, otherwise you'll lose them.

Bear in mind the old SIM card may not work after being run over by your car.

If it doesn't work your provider should be able to provide you with a new one with the same number.
