Yet another vicious attack, perhaps some would wish to comment on this, instead of turning it into a similar 119 answer criticism of my "it never happened when I was a youth" remark?

But come to think about 'when I was a youth' I can never remember such a similar attack.

What similarity can you not remember from when you were a youth? A racist attack? There may be a reason for that !
Perhaps you should start the ball rolling.

You could begin by telling us what you wish to discuss, unless you're trying to make a point, and if you are, it would be great if you could tell us what point you're trying to make.

I refuse to believe that this is a "there...I told you so post" as a follow up to your previous missive...because that would be childish.
In what decade(s) were you a youth and where did you live at that time?
Its a horrible story, thugs like this should be caught and punished, and it is a sad commentary that no one came forward to help.

There you go, a comment on the story.

At least this time you have no declared that such events never happened in your day. Maybe you are gaining some wisdom?

And when you say that when you were a youth you cannot remember such a similar attack - do you mean a racist assault? or an assault witnessed by bystanders where no one intervened? or both?

Just as I thought, although it's true to say LazyGun started off by making a comment on this thuggish attack, but only to finish off by joining the others in a swipe against myself.

Pathetic absolutely pathetic.
I gave you a comment, what more can you possibly want?

And I asked you to clarify the point you were attempting to make. Thats not an attack, just yet....
anotheoldgit you have made several references to incidents not happening when you were a youth so would it not be constructive if you telt us when that was?
I can remember black men being set upon for being different, when I was a child in the 50s - racism was overt in those days.
So you don't want us to comment on the fact that it didn't happen in your day but carry on to say "But come to think about 'when I was a youth' I can never remember such a similar attack."

My grandad took over a market pub back in the 60's and he had to use the dogs to split up 3 fights on his very first day. I can safely say that it never happened in my day!!!

LazyGun

/// I gave you a comment, what more can you possibly want? ///

Take the threatening comment at the end.

Also, this sarcastic remark,

/// At least this time you have no declared that such events never happened in your day. Maybe you are gaining some wisdom? ///

The wisdom I have gained from debating with you is the fact you have an aggressive and impolite attitude, but then I suppose it is asking you too much to change your ways, so I will just ignore your comments in the future.

aog,you don't give us any clear statement as to what your question,if any, is , or what point you wish to make ! You just say that perhaps some would wish to comment.

What comment do you expect? That we think it's a good thing that the man was attacked?

The only implied question is "Did such racist attacks occur in your youth?" That depends on when your youth was. I surmise that you are in you mid-seventies or older, judging from statements you've made in the past such as telling me that you are older than me and can remember how things were before I was born (1947) Hence my point to you about racist attacks; there were very few Indians or 'Asians' or, indeed, black people here in, say, the mid-1950s
Lol...you sound like a petulant child, AOG. Debating really isn't your forte.
It's an awful incident, quite local to me so big on the local news, one of a increasing number of general assaults happening on trams although assaults aren't a rare thing around here generally.

I can't remember racist attacks happening when I was little, only because I grew up in a predomidantly white area - all in context, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

It's awful how nobody tried to intervene although I don't think it was a racist thing if that is what you are suggesting? I'd same it's becoming a more common reaction to assaults generally - many people seem to scared to intervene.

In your youth (as others have said) there will have been nowhere near the number of non whites to attack......................also no internet to read about any such attack.

You really do go round in circles AOG - have you not got it yet?
Doesn't the fact that several people are all saying the same sort of thing to you mean anything? ie. that you might just have got something wrong.
I've said it before *numerous times* and I'll say it again: to you anyone who disagrees with you and expresses it is "impolite" or "aggressive".
You ask for opinions and when you get the "wrong" answers you get all arsey about it.
Or 24/7 news channels.
@AoG you do act like a petulant child, and you are no stranger to aggressive and insulting comments yourself. One description of a hypocrite would be someone who dishes it out, but cannot take it in return. It seems to me that you fit that definition perfectly.....

I was being sarcastic yes, but your posts invite sarcasm. It would indeed be wise of you to stop asserting stuff as fact that which is only your subjective opinion.
AOG

Why are you being rude to LazyGun?

In your question you say you cannot remember such incidents happening 'in your day'.

Is it not fair, then, for someone to ask for clarification on what mean?

But back to your OP. This is a horrible crime and hopefully, it will have been caught by CCTV, so the perpetrators can be brought to swift justice.

The only positive that we can get out of this is that when such attacks happen, the fact that we have cameras on public transport means that it's more likely that the police have something to go on.

A fact that was less likely 'in my days'.
AOG

Can we start again?

Are you asking for a comment on the fact that no-one intervened or a comment on the perceived increase in public assaults.

These are both valid topics (although the latter has been chewed over in depth on AB recently).
It has been caught on CCTV, I'm sure there was a reference to in on the local news article as to the daughter watching afterwards at the police station and being shocked that nobody intervened and more shocked some people seemed to be trying to get a better view!

Football violence may be another issue here as the man and his daughter where on a tram after a Utd v Fulham match at Old Trafford.
