Just received a parking charge notice from Paid Parking Company I have googled and looked on here but there seems to be loads of conflicting advice. Do I have to pay it (I don't dispute the fact that himself parked at Aldi for too long). Thank you.
Methyl, I am no great fan of draconian parking rules and some of the heavy handed companies that operate within the system - however on this occasion I feel Sherr's approach is the right one.
If Mr Sherr had done a quick shop then nipped to the barbers, I may agree with you, but he didn't shop at all that visit.
When Aldi first opened here, their car park had no signs at all - it immediately became known as the best free car park for town centre office workers and equally the one supermarket in town a customer couldn't get a space.
Don't even bother engaging these shyster's in any kind of correspondence, just simply ignore them.
You may get letters saying that certain things MAY happen and POSSIBLY others with the words judge, court, bailiff and proceedings with capital letters in order to accentuate them to you and make them stand out off the page.
I've had 3 in the last 7 years, all with various veiled threats. I'm yet to pay them a penny or have any summons to court.
Simply ignore them and they'll give up eventually.
I'll pay it tomorrow (himself was at fault, just wondered if it was a kosher demand for payment) - funny though, never, ever noticed any cameras but there are photos of my car in the letter.
There was a letter in our local paper the other day. Someone parked in Lidl car park in Chepstow and got a ticket for £50 because his car wheel was slightly touching the line.
Caran, now that is what I mean by draconian practices, out of order.
Methyl seems to be saying anyone can park anywhere they like , I know there is a campaign for such.
I live in a complex of 72 flats, half of which (not mine thankfully) overlook Asda car park, people have no compunction at all in using our private grounds as overspill car parking.
See, this my problem! The rebel in me (v small part admittedly) will try to get out of it but the honest part of me (99.9%) will pay it as he's in the wrong :(
Life's too short to be fretting about £40, don't want to come home from holiday to a nasty letter or phone messages, I'll cough up. I'll save my 0.01% rebellious side for something important.
