Hi was wondering if anybody can help. A friend of a friend has been put in jail over the weekend and he is in court this afternoon, Scottish court how do I find out what the charge is, can I call the court to find out? Will they tell me (Joe public) thanks

The court can not tell you anything about the case it is confidential . The only way to find out is to actually go to the court and sit in the public gallery.
Anyway,If he was arrested over the weekend the court will not know what the charge is until the police bring him there.
If you know which court said person is in if you call later they will only be all you the outcome.

Thank you for your replies much appreciated.
If it is the same as English courts they are not allowed to tell anyone the result of a court case. The only way is to actually sit in the court public gallery, even newspaper reporters have to go and sit in the public gallery to hear a case. For 'high profile' cases there will be a press release but not for 'everyday cases'.
