Crb Check?
I need a crb check to work at an old persons home. My only conviction was for driving while disqualified 11 years ago, does this still show on an enhanced check?

However 'filtering' has now been introduced, meaning that where a person has committed only ONE offence, not resulting in a custodial sentence (and not exempted from the filtering process), at least 11 YEARS prior to the date of the check, that offence will not be shown:

(A recent court case has resulted in a ruling that limiting 'filtering' to just a single offence is unlawful but the Government has yet to change the legislation).

Hi everyone ! Nice to read y' all
I have been on the interviewing end of this sort of thing
and I would volunteer it and then add on a pre prepared script on how this life changing event has caused you to reflect and think....
and good luck with the job
I did the same with my drink driving conviction ....

PP, "OK perhaps I am not the normal interviewer ( I ask qq like can you do the job ? )
but one looks at the CRB print out and my reaction is:
what is this shut ?"
Its a little different when dealing with vulnerable people.
I think it is to weed out the potentially violent and thieves etc, all whom like to prey on the vulnerable.

Ratter15:
The law doesn't distinguish between 'motoring' offences and 'criminal' ones. They're ALL criminal offences. (Speeding is as much a 'crime' as shoplifting is).
However CRB/DBS checks only show convictions (as well as cautions, etc) and a fixed penalty notice (e.g. for speeding) isn't a conviction, and therefore doesn't show on a CRB/DBS check (whereas convictions before a court do).
Eddie states that his conviction was 11 years ago. If he actually means 10 years and 11 months, it WILL show up on the check. If he means 11 years and 1 month, it WON'T.

PP, "Ratter it was never the intention that the CRB should enable a one strke and you are out culture"
I don't think I suggested that, and I don't think that has happened.
I have criminal convictions admittedly a long time ago but I do have a lot, they have never hindered me getting a job. I do notify a prospective employer of my convictions with an explanatory not of how and why etc.
