Patty, I think it may well be time to seek a solicitor's advice, but first I would ask the police why they did not take any action. It may well be that he convinced them that he thought he would have your permission.

To all you lovely people a bit has happened since my last post, the police must have gone away and looked into it, they have contacted me again saying they have asked him yet again were the car is however he won't tell them, I don't know what is going to happen now. My ex partner ( lucky escape I didn't marry him) has been in touch via FB even though I had blocked him, saying he will give me the key back to the car, I have told him I want the car as well cos if I accept the he may have done anything to it or even had it squashed, so at the moment this is a stale mate, I am still going the CAB for advice cos it isn't just the the car there are a few things more that need to be resolved, and as I had my suspicions he was cheating on My, such a low life, I just pity that girl because he is a con man x

Hahaha can I just say I should wear my glasses when reading posts, I have just seen mark as best answer didn't read all of sorry
I think it's definitely theft. I mean, he took it without your knowledge and you said the documents are in your name ( which I think he knows) Have you spoken to him? Have you asked him if he could return it to you? If you have tried to communicate to him but he still won't return your car, I think it would be best to call the police.
Also I know some car companies can lock the car. I don't know if this would be adding more fuel to the fire, but you could probably ask the place where you got the car to lock it and ask them if they could give you another key?

I have tried to reason with him, to no avail, he has offered m the key but no car, this is such a stupid idea, how can I accept that, he could have done anything to it, even took it the scrap yard and had it squashed, the police have been back again and he still won't tell them were the car is, as going back to were I had bought it, I had been in touch with them and if I had been in possession of both keys they could have altered the computer system hay hoe I will just have to wait till Monday and go from there .
