Hollywood only allows one name to be registered, for instance did you know Stuart Grainger was born James Stewart.

If an artist comes up that means there's already a Spotlight member with that name and you will be required to choose another. Please note however, if a name does not come up in the search it does not mean a name is immediately available.

Neither Equity nor Spotlight is able to hold or reserve names for future use, or for artists whose subscriptions expire. If your membership subscription runs out then a current or new subscriber may successfully apply to use same name in the meantime.

You should always double-check different spellings and abbreviations of a name, since neither Equity nor Spotlight will accept similar names, even if they are not identical.

^ Chloe Wang had to change her name because there was already another Chloe Wang registered with Spotlight / Equity NOT due to racism. Only one actress / actor/ performer of each name is able to be registered to avoid confusion . So the only reason she had to change her stage name was that someone else was already using it!
