Evening, GG

Lots of hither and thither within a relatively small area this week. Unlike the author, my hopes of finding something of epically grand proportions were diminished when I saw “Saxon Cathedral (remains of).” I had enough of Æthel, Æthelred, Ætlfgifus, Ætdreds, Edraeds, Edreds, Eadreds and Ædgars et al, last week. Edmund Ironside 1016, I could cope with but according to some bios another king who was supposed to be buried in Glastonbury was interred in Winchester - heigh ho!

So, this week, we find that the lawyer mentioned, who did such a good job as Attorney General prosecuting those, in power, who had done wrong, actually got sidelined through a so called promotion. Shades of the MP expenses scandal spring to mind - clearly the establishment, even in those days, didn't like having their peccadilloes exposed.

It was not surprising that the author made the decision not to visit the third village and include the identity of the actor as one of the questions. He was, I believe, featured in a previous quiz.

I was pleasantly surprised though, by the number of Castles present in the area, plus the author's usual affinity for Railways. Do you think he is somehow related to Dr. Beeching or does he just has a "thing" about him?

Tried to submit my answers on-line but got an error "could not find your form." Don't they want me to win, then?

Hi Flon. Yes, took a fair bit of fiddling about today, but I had a good idea about the railway and sort of worked backwards from there. Like the look of the prize this week (I don't bother entering if it's skiing - can't ski, or anything involving a ferry crossing, or camping), but I've never been on Eurostar and it's ages since I've been to Paris. Alas, I, too, just get the 'error' message instead of the entry form. Reckon they'll have it sorted by tomorrow.
