My husband has got to go to court but the police never charged him or arrest him.

oh sorry i forgot to say that the offensive weapon he was charged with was an hammer

Who was he threatening? a young person/child, an elderly person, a stranger?

Kitten, post exactly what happened and exactly what the charges are. And fgs, do not listen to barrack room lawyers. If your hubby has a solicitor talk to him.

thnakyou all and ive found out he was cautioned at the police station and ive talked to the solicitor
Yes, by summons. Not all offences are arrestable.

Can summons be a community service
A summons is an order to attend court for a hearing.

"Community Service" is really "unpaid Work" and is part of a sentence handed down by a court.
