So much negative news recently, it's bound to create more.

Does the media have any responsibility in what they represent?

Good news is rarely interesting enough to report. A smattering of it goes a long way. It's the controversial stuff that fires up the public.

I was once told, by a newspaperman, that good news doesn't sell newspapers. There was a radio station, in New York (I believe) that set out to broadcast only good news, but, as it was supported by advertisers, it didn't last long. Nobody listened to it, therefore nobody bought the advertisers' products. Maybe that philosophy still applies. Negative news is the only kind that gets read or listened to.

And no, news story incidents happen. One doesn't wait for bad news in the media then go out and commit some more.

If there is bad news around the corner I want to see it coming.I don't need sugar coating and want to hear/read it as it is.

the case of "any publicity is good publicity" certainly applies with the age of the internet.. If people are searching someone or something for good or bad, they're still giving that thing or person a page hit as you could say.

For example.. Brexit. If news it good or bad, it gets people searching the topic, which gets more search hits etc.. Which gets more income for advertisers
