Bbc Local News

Have I missed something ? When I watch BBC news in the morning I have always had a short segment of local news from London and the south east, which has been fine. Recently I have noticed that the local news is from the South and covers an area from Dorset to Oxford but rarely gets anywhere near me. I live near Pulborough in West Sussex and would rather have news for this area. Can one elect to have local news from nearby or is this just an arbitrary BBC change ?

You watching tv via a freeview box or sky. You may just need to retune your tv and select region you want.

Thanks - that sounds positive. I have a Sky box but I would not know how to retune it ??

I know that on ITV we get different local news (and local ads) on High Definition from those on Standard Definition. It doesn't apply to our BBC service, because the local news is only in SD.

If it's sky you cannot retune, but you should be able to select a region? You'll have to dig out manual or find it online or ring Sky

The BBC News Channel normally has London local news; if you watch via BBC1 you will get your own local news.

High Definition versus Standard Definition that's the problem. If you watch BBC or ITV National news in HD and then watch your local news chances are your local stations are not technically capable of broadcasting in HD so your local news comes from the nearest studio that can transmit in HD . In my case that's HD from Birmingham rather than SD Nottingham. Again in my case I just select chanel 101 for SD from 108 for HD from Virgin.
This same situation occurs throughout the country.

channel 231 - BBC news should do it
I have to remember to switch to channel 1 for me to get local Northern news .... or else I get what roads are slow around the Dartford Tunnel ....
