After carrying out these non Royal duties; a holiday in Ibiza, staying on Elton Johns yatch in the South of France, a trip to New York to watch a game of tennis and a society wedding in Rome, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they need to take 6 weeks off from Royal duties! I can't see how this news will enthral the taxpayer. It has been said they will spend Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham, we'll see. It will be interesting to see how they spend those 6 weeks while thinking up an excuse not to go to Sandringham.

"What you doing up so early Harry, it's only 5am?" "In work today Meg, got to cut a ribbon and make a speech then shake some hands, should be back about 5pm. How about you?" "Not in work until midday, dress fitting, teeth whitening, hair straightening, then home to supervise the staff with Archie." "We need six weeks off to slow down a bit luv, can't burn ourselves...

I really do wish people would leave these two alone
No matter what they do they will be criticised by certain sections of the media.

Why Bobbi? It's a news article and I am entitled to comment on it.
Goodness knows what they'd need to do to enthral some.

Thank goodness for the upturn in support all the same.
Barsel of course you are and I wasn't aiming any criticism at you, more the ongoing media frenzy and obsession with them
Question Author
I am expressing my view, you don't have to agree with it. I don't see why my comments should be criticised any more than the criticism Boris receives.
I repeat, I wasn't criticising you but the paper that prints the stuff, I apologise if you though otherwise Barsel

They are on a TV show tonight and I believe it gets a bit personal with Meghan getting upset, so why do it? As I said, they are leaving themselves open to criticism.
a life of pure privilege, similar to all the stars mmm celebs, flying to a fro..holiday here there, functions parties..glitterati, unlike whats cheap on the menu, or where's the clearance shelf luv...envy, no there just lucky..or have a talent.
yes, I agree, I do not think they should be making a docu in the light of them suing the media, It could well backfire
With the royal family breeding like rabbits you would think the media/public attention might be spread a bit wider than a few individuals. At least Charles & Camilla are pretty much out of the limelight now!
I think they should both lay low for a while. How would we know that they were taking a break from royal duties, unless we had been told.?

They should both keep quiet and just get on with it, instead of announcing their plans to the world.
I hope they continue to do so davebro
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN :O}

Bobbi, my remarks are not directed to you, so no need for apologies. I just can't understand why anyone thinks it's ok, the things they do. The tour they did in South Africa ( the tour that Harry did ) went down well, but then they come home and both are going to sue the press. To me, they are behaving like no other member of the RF that I can think of.
They do have their own money. Not everything they do is paid for by the taxpayer.

Elton John was a good friend of Diana's. Serena/Venus (don't know which one) is a good friend of Meghan's and they accepted a wedding invite. I can't see a problem with any of those things. It's what a lot of us do but on a smaller scale.
"They do have their own money"

hahaha - stolen from the people over many generations!
Question Author
I agree with you Tilly.
ummmm You can't compare them to us. They are members of the RF and as such should be carrying out Royal duties as most other Royals do and not swanning off with their celebrity friends and then saying they need a 6-week rest. If Kate and William carried on like this, they would be open to criticism also.
If they want to leave this country and go and live abroad, then they should do, if it makes them happier, but they should give up all their Royal privileges if they do so.
Barsel
Don't let them get at you, you will find that on here there are some open up to all kind of criticism, yet it is a definite no no to criticise some others.
Really? Was Meghan paid in monopoly money when she was in hit TV show? Was Diana not from a wealthy family and left her children a considerable sum? Does Harry's dad not earn quite a lot of money from his Duchy business?

And that's before you take into consideration that he fought for this country and has done amazing work for wounded soldiers.
