My sons GF ordered a shop with Deliveroo, for her mother, that included £30 worth of tobacco.
Said order was dropped on doorstep minus tobacco.
Numerous phone calls later, keep getting told that small print requires signature for age related product (fair enough...she wasn't home at the time of delivery).
However, thats all we are getting.
Keep on asking about a refund or tobacco been delivered and been told that its in the small print about age restricted items been signed for!
Manager rang back & when asked about a refund or delivery promptly terminated the call.
EH?
Surely a company cant retain £30 for an undelivered item?
Any advice/help appreciated
Thanks.
(All a bit of a ball ache with everything been on line nowadays, used to have a Trading Standards Office on my door step at one time)
My view is that your son's GF has no recourse. She (or someone over 18) was not there to sign for age restricted products. Consequently, according to the terms she must have accepted at purchase, Deliveroo are entitled to charge her and not deliver the product. Clearly they attempted delivery by reason of the fact that the other items were delivered. You have...
Yes, Mozz, that is when the supplier has messed the order up, not because the customer wasn't home to receive the goods.
bednobs, being at home to receive age restricted goods isn't a Deliveroo requirement, it is the law. You have to show proof that you are over 18 and you can get a Visa debit card at 13. Even if it was paid for by credit card that doesn't prove the cardholder is at home.
Also sorry for mirevae news nailit. I was just doing an order and added an age restricted item. A box comes up before you proceed telling you that you may have to provide id upon delivery
Just Eat has the same provision in its terms and conditions - no refunds if failure to deliver because the customer rejects the order or is not at the address to accept it.
Well I must be lucky. I've used them 5 or 6 times and they have been fine. There was an item missing once but that was sorted politely and quickly. Oh and it has always been delivered well within the time frame given. I watch the little man on my laptop and one time I could see he was nearby but struggling to find me, as lots of people do. Then my mobile rings and it's him asking for directions. So no grumbles from me. It all depends on the staff in the area you live in, as always.
ladybirder, if naiilit's son's girlfriend had been home to take delivery of the goods then all would be fine here. There was nothing missing from the delivery when the driver knocked the door - it couldn't be delivered because nobody was home to receive it.
And it’s not signed for the delivery guy just had to see someone, have they checked their receipt or bank to see if they have been charged? Even with the big supermarkets refund takes a few days
