I'm looking at options for the best way to create my will and have found some good online options that should save me some money. Has anyone used this kind of service before?

No, but I know people who have and it ended up costing them more than if they'd gone to a regular high street solicitor.

Thanks, Naomi24! Did they have complicated wills?
you should find a good local solicitor one who has been recommended by word of mouth or one that has great reviews online do you have any friends or family who could give you a recommendation
I am always nervous of such services. Particularly if there is any family discord and likely to be a challenge thereafter. A good file note from a will draftsman who took instructions from the testator is worth its weight in gold. You do not get that with online wills.

I would spend the money now to get it right, rather than your potential beneficiaries having to have an expensive fight afterwards if it goes wrong.

Do as Roadman says. Furthermore, if you can find a solicitor who is a member of STEP, that is even better.

There is also the Make a Will Month scheme. Details in the link. You have missed it this year, but the next one is in March. There are other options set out in the link too.

Where there's a will there's a way.......for a family to fall out. Pay for a proper one which sets out exactly where you want your money to go.
ThomasSurfer, It doesn't matter what the will contains - it needs to be right - and legitimate. Find a well-known local solicitor and do it properly.
Have a look at Farewill.com - I did mine through the free wills service with them and they were excellent. Simple to understand and quick service. Very pleased with them and happy to recommend.
I used the Which? wills service and found them excellent (they had a half-price offer at the time). Trustpilot reviews are good, too.

Go to a solicitor: more than one person has been ripped off by these 'will-writers' by making themselves executors & trousering the proceeds after the demise of the client.
solicitors do that too though
I can also recommend WhichWills same as ginge.
Excellent and a solicitor goes through it for you at the end.
1. My solicitor specifically advised against nominating him as Executor. His advice was to nominate a relative/friend who can then pass the task to a solicitor of their choice.
2. If the will is written by a solicitor it is easier to get compensation in the event of an error.
