Help.....driving car on a provisional licence... no l plates... took a risk as usual licenced passenger unable to be with me.... involved in accident not my fault.... given ticket at scene to produce documents... all in order but not full licence... havnt produced yet have till thurs... cant find full licence as lost wallet at xmas with photo card and paper one is not in document box where i thought it would be....not usually irresponsible have a very responsible job.. how much trouble amI in?... hope someone can help....

I would say big trouble.
To drive a car on a provisional licence without supervision is inexcusable. Whether or not the accident was your fault I doubt that any insurance company would meet the claim under the circumstances and that leaves someone else who was doubtless properly insured and held a Full Licence, to pick up the pieces.
DVLA should have a record of your Licence and I'm sure that the Police will be able to check on this. Have you informed DVLA of the loss?
You will appear before a Magistrates Court and receive a hefty fine plus points on your licence. You may even get a ban.
In my opinion the courts are too lenient on this type of offence. To my mind it should be a MINIMUM fine of �500.
appreciate that ive commited an offence wasnt asking for judgement just facts... the other driver caused the accident and is liable for their own damage to their vehicle...they admitted liability at the scene and have had confirmation of this....I know I will have to pay for mine and cant claim through the insurance....what I need to know is how many offences ive committed and possibly how many points and or ban and how long before i will be able to sit my test. Yes dvla know of lost licence as have sent for replacement.....am not a silly kid am an older person and did have an emergency.. though know i should not have been driving. want facts before i go and produce documents at localpolice station as wish to know what to expect.
You do not have to go to court unless you are contesting the possible charges, although I don't see how you can. It will probably be in your favour if you went to court, pleaded guilty in person stating any mitigating cicumstances.

thx for help...can i just state again I did not cause accident... was a kid... on a mobile... know I was irresponsible and will pay for it...through the court system. have never done it before... im in my forties and should have known better... as for doing again.. do you really think thats an option? I dont...
The six points during the first two years of holding a full licence does not necessarily mean a ban as NORMANTHEDI mentioned, but you will loose your full licence and go back to provisional status having to drive accomapanied, display L plates and have to take the written and driving test again, but as you state you do not have a full licence yet.
If you do not receive any more than six points on your provisional licence you can still take the test. If you pass the six points will be carried forward to your full licence. If you get one more point within two years and the previous six are still countable then it is back to square one.
In certain cases courts can issue a ban (on anyone) until a driving test has been passed. In extreme cases they can order you to take an extended driving test which cost twice as much and lasts twice as long as a standard driving test.
Both of these tests can be imposed immediately or following a driving ban.

Go to the Police station and produce the MOT and Insurance. Tell them that you have misplaced your licence and that you will be presenting it when you recieve a copy from Swansea.The Police usually do a PNC search to see if you have a licence at the scene but appear not to have done or to have missed the fact that you were unaccompanied.Look on your "producer" that asks you to take your docs to the police station, and see if they want the info "recorded" or just "checked". Take your licence in when you recieve it. It's a really daft thing to have done as you obviously know, but there's by no means any guarantee that they will even notice that you are only a provisional driver. I once took my documents in after being stopped and only after they'd checked them all and given them back to me did I realise that I'd given them the wrong cover note and that they'd accepted one for a totally different car.Just please don't do it again.
exactly lyndunnpoet. Bettiboo, whether it was your fault or not makes no difference, and its tough that you are upset by judgements, what did u expect? The bottom line is you should not have been in the car and should not have been driving. It like you getting in a plane to fly it - you dont have any experience or the licence to do so Who let you get in it? Friend, parents? Whoever it was should get a the book thrown at them the same as you. Its mindless people like you that kill innocent pedestrian and drivers.
It was stupid for the other driver to be on the phone, granted, but his insurers will make a bigger thing about you not having a licence.
The police will definately have you for it one way or another. You will not be allowed to take any further driving lessons or tests for some time because you will face a ban and a hefty fine.
bettieboo according to your question, you have actually passed your test but lost your full license along with your wallet and all your other document are in order, if i am reading this correctly, you are in hardly any trouble at all - just maybe a slap on the wrist for not applying for a duplicate license.
