i often sell things abroad and get paid by bacs transfer so i have to give out my bank details out alot.


is it possible for them to use it in any other way against me, lots of times i dont get the order but give out my bank details

There is less information about your account given for bacs transfer than is on a cheque.

And no signature.

It is extremely common on mainland Europe and is gaining in useage in the UK.

It is safe. The most anybody can do with that information is pay money in.

Or set up a direct debit.
I'm sure that those dodgy "I'm a Nigerian millionaire and I need an account to pay �5billion into : you can have 1% commission" emails ask only for sort code and account number but I don'y know how those scams work or how they get the money from you.

Either way, I'd be happy giving others enough info for them to pay a BACS payment into my *savings* account - slightly less so with my main current account.
If you are worried you should set up a "clearing" account. This is an empty account (with maybe a �10 float in it) only used to pay into. Once payments have been made to this account you move them directly to another account. There would be nothing held in the account to steal even if the deatils were used fraudulently.
