Can anybody tell me what happens as far as job applications go when somebody has a criminal record which has been served. A cousin of mine has been told that a prospective employer will still see thst he has a conviction but it will just say "spent!"next to it.. As an employer who would you choose?. Just to add he is 55 yrs old has an exceptional work record and just made a very stupid mistake(petty theft) one and only offence in his entire life.
a crb check shows all convictions whether spent or not. we have drivers at our company who have convictions which are spent and we do not hold this against them in their applications for employment, but i expect some people will.
hi, i had a caution for shoplifting during a bout of post natal depression 4yrs ago and my employers said that if they had had the CRB check thru in time they wouldnt have employed me! i work in a school.
If he is applying for a job with children 0 to 18 then if he has a conviction against 'the person' then he would not get a job but for other convictions ie theft they look at individual circumsances but speak to a solicitor to gain full info good luck.
