Part of my job is to drive my boss to meetings. most times we hire a car but occasionally we will use hers. I am insured as a named driver on my partners car insurance but I'm not a named driver on my boss' car insurance (that i know of and doubt it very much).

Am I, in some way or another, covered to drive my boss' car?

Probably not, if its her car. Why not ask her? It may be OK in the hire car as she may well have named you but she may have assumed you have insurance which you don't have
The other question you need to ask is whether the insurance covers you for work. Most people's insurance specifically excludes busienss use. Travel to and from work does not count as business use but driving to a business meeting or between sites does. If you are not covered for business use, you are driving illegally. It must be your boss' responsibility to cover you but if he/she hasn't, you could suffer.
Hi flipflop No you are not insured. You have to be either specifically named on the policy or the car has to be insured for anyone to drive it.
It sounds like neither is applicable here.
Talk to your boss about it.
If you were the policy owner on your own car then you might be insured third party on your bosses one, but again the business use thing would probably void it.

Since your only a named driver then you're driving uninsured - a very, very bad idea both from your licence point of view if the police stop you or if you have an accident.
