There is some talk of ben Thatcher being prosecuted for the assult on Pedro Mendes recently, and a number of people seem to think that would be inappropriate as it was during a game of football.

My question is why are there not more prosecutions for what are clearly criminal offences that are captured on TV? The only reason I can think of is public interest, but that seems very weak - surely no-one is above the law?

I`m sure Duncan Ferguson got jailed for headbutting a player during a match whilst playing for Rangers.

I think Thatcher should be nicked for that and banned for at least six months
it may be a game of football but they are professionals and football is there job. basically it would be the same if one of your workmates assaulted you.
