divorce

i have a property owned prior to marriage and a joint property with my soon to be divorced hubby. The decree absolute should be coming through in 3 weeks or so. Divorce is not contested. Will he be able to claim for my sole property after the divorce is finalised if he decides to become greedy.

Your assests as they stand, for both of you, will be written down and assessed. The whole sum of your monies will then be haggled over and a descision reached as to who gets what and who needs to pay the other extra money. Don't count on the property you had prior to marriage being excluded, it will be blended into it all. Secondly, he will become greedy - that is a dead cert.
