You may be barred from certain jobs.

It could be difficult to get any type of insurance.

It depends what the crime was.

1 in 7 people (approx) have a criminal record.

Whateevr the crime though, you may be duty bound to inform your employer. Speak to welfare or union rep in confidence to see if you have to disclose it.
In 1969 I was convicted of grievous bodily harm and sentenced to 6 months in jail, despite having no prior convictions and none since I have constantly been refused employment in all kinds of jobs.

What did I do? I headbutted a drunken man that was trying to gouge out my eyes with a broken bottlle.

Looking back I cant believe I was that stupid.

Or is it possible that the people who write the laws in Britain are the dumbest ******* on the planet
