in court cases are the defendants called far earlier to attend court than prosecution witnesses to avoid any contact/threats inducements etc? and what about when there is a break during proceedings are there any procedures designed to keep defendants and witnesses apart? i ask this as when i attended court some years back i had to walk past the family of the assailants sitting in the corridor which i found very intimidating
