my partner and i are splitting up. the house is in joint names for the mortgage. we got alot of discount from the council a few years ago from my discount as a council tenant, we bought the house and now from the large profit we made on the last house we bought this house,. how do i find out how much i have to pay him to buy him out,, we have one child who will stay with me, but he is saying that i have to move out and he will give me some money. i dont want to move.

This is not straightforward and I would seek expert help. If the child is to stay with you, it is unlikely that you will have to move out, rather your partner will. He will have to put up extremely strong arguments to show otherwise.
Get proper legal help. You may get legal aid, so give it a go anyway...
most solicitors give the first half an hour free if thats any help
