hi
someone please help
left my last job and they are refusing to give me my p45 back until i pay them money i owe, due to walking out on them (got paid in advance) only owe bout 100 pound.
how do i start another job without this ? im in a mess i need to pay them back but cant start a new job without a p45
advise please !

of course you can start a new job,without a p45.just tell your new employers,it will be coming soon.

Yes, you can definitely do this. Employer will ask you to sign a P46 form that gets sent to HMRC and you will get taxed at the single person's allowance (503L W1/M1 in tax year just finished) until HMRC sort things out.

It could be that they cannot prepare your P45 without knowing what your final earnings will be & are waiting to see if you return the money so they can make the final declaration of your earnings and tax on the form.
