The link below gives guidelines for travellling with dogs in cars in hot weather. Please don't let you dog become a statistic and one of the many that suffer because their owner just didn't think.

Lankeela, glad you bought this up, dont know if you attended WELKS this year, but on the Saturday it was quite warm, and when we went back to the car park there was a van (which was advertising a dog walking and sitting service!!) with some dogs inside in cages, and they were quite distressed. We made the stewards aware, but when will they ever listen, they should be prosecuted and stopped from showing.

I agree, if the showing fraternity cannot set an example then what chance have we of educating the public. If the societies refused entries from anyone whose dogs were left in cars then they would soon learn to take them out.
Didn't do WELKS this year, next shows Southern Counties, Blackpool and Paignton, so quite a lot of travelling involved. Although I like the hot weather, I hope its not too hot for the dogs' sakes.
I dont do hot weather, I stay indoors, neither do the dogs with their coats - your breed were in an adjacent ring to mine at Birmingham, but you werent in the catalogue. I am thinking of reporting the incident at Welks to the Dog World - to think the van was a dog sitting service, they may not even have been their dogs.

A letter to the dog papers might make them stop and think before doing it again.
Dorset steam fair last year.
"would the owner of the blue range rover reg XXX XXXX please return to your car. Your dogs are in distress. The police will remove the dogs if you do not return in 10 mins"
same again 5 mins later.
5 mins later....
"would the owner of the blue range rover reg XXX XXXX please report to the police tent where your dogs are being held....oh and you might want to secure your broken window."

Wish more police forces were so vigilant. At Sheringham Market one driver nearly got linched by the market traders when a Jack Russell was almost passed out in his posh 4 x 4. The police and RSPCA did not respond at all. In the end we 'opened' the vehicle and got the dog out. The owner did not even realise it was not in there when he got back and when he kicked off he suddenly realised what he was up against.
