hi can anyone please try and settle an argument regarding coming off benefits and working part time as i have been telling a friend that if they come off benefits they will have to pay full rent and polltax,as i work full time i think i am right or am i wrong,he says that if he works 15hours a week then his benefit will continue and will not have to pay rent and poll tax my wife agrees with me,so where would he stand?we pay full rent and poll tax as i work full time but will he if he works 15 hours any advice would be great so i could pass it on.cheers

You can bet that at the end of the day your friend will be no better off by working part time & advise that he makes carefull accounting. As this is a trap alot fall into & end up worse off without even realising it. The people in poverty are the people who usually work & have less coming in than those on benefits.
