rehousing
i have lived at my address for 18 years along with my brother.my mother was the named tenant up until 2001 but sadly passed away.i took over the tenancy from then onwards.recently i have been looking at the possibility to buy my own house jointly with a friend.to cut a long story short,we have found and bought a house.the problem is that my housing association has said that because the tenancy of their property has been handed down once from my mother to me,my brother will have to vacate the property and that they would not be responsible in finding him alternative accomodation.i am thinking that this is very unfair.is he entitled to be rehoused?can anyone help please because he has nowhere else to go?

unfortunately it sounds like your brother will have to apply in his own right or try to find somewhere else. The best place to find more info would be to carefully read your tenancy and see what the rules and regs are within it - the association doesn't have to go beyond this in anyway (though i imagine they went beyond the contract when your mother passed away to allow you to stay, seems to be you have had a good turn done for you once but they won't do it again)
Good luck to you both
