I have been with my girlfriend for almost 18 years. I want to ask her to marry me but I am self-employed and I think, despite my best efforts, it's all going to crash and burn about my ears.
Our house is solely in her name although I have contributed to bits and pieces.
How liable would she be for MY debts if we were to marry?

If the debts are in your sole name then your girlfriend wouldn't be liable for any of them. Being married doesn't change that.
