driving license

dont know whether this is the correct place to post this or whether it should be motoring but here goes. hyperthetically speaking, (it was just a discussion i had with friends) is there any difference in the eyes of the law of a person driving on a provisional license with no one sitting next to them and a person with an automatic license driving a manual car?

Surely they are both the same offence - driving without a valid licence. I can see you point as to a possible difference but why should there be?

no difference, you licence woud be invalid, therefore you would be done for not having the correct licence in the case of the auto car, and done for driving without a full licence in the other.

i wasnt pointing to a possible difference at all. i am on a provisional license and wouldnt drive un supervised. a friend of mine keeps going on about making sure i dont drive unsupervised, i said that she cant say that to me when she has an auto license and drives a manual. there's no difference. but she wont have it. so i just wondered thats all
