As 4get says, we have a lot
I dont mind them at all, but i wouldnt want to be surrounded by hundreds of them when other towns in the locality refuse to grant planning/
We have 2 in town and 7 or 8 just outside. After the 2 were put up and the planning was requested (by a second power company) for the others the MD of the first company said that there was like a gentlemans agreement that if a town already had wind turbines that they wouldnt be forced to have more and more. great eh? yes, except that once the other company got planning for thiers the MD has now stated he wants a further 10 on the other side of the town.
Our district council have also stated that because we already have so many that we should be first option before any other town in the district.
I agree that renewable energy should be used whereever possible. But i dont accept that once town should have enough turbines to power the district which includes at least 4 other towns larger than ours.

I like them too, they are quite elegant from a distance and I love the ones out to sea.
The problem is that they're not solution to the energy crisis that people think. They can't work in high winds and have to be switched off if there are gusts above 60mph. They're very inefficient in terms of generating power for the National Grid because they don't have a continuous output.
It's a developing technology. Bet the cavemen complained that this new fangled fire stuff had it's benefits but wasn't as good as old-fashioned fur. So it goes.
