disabled parking

can anyone clarify this for me ? man who lived over the road from me died about 6 months ago there was a disabled parking bay put outside his house for him about three weeks before he died. his widow doesnt drive but his daughter who doesnt live there does. the parking in the street is horrendous and we often have to park elsewhere, in the meantime that bay stands empty until his daughter visits and she has a readymade parking space, can this be right ?

Unless his widow is disabled & has a blue badge herself then no, it isn't right.

A disabled bay provided outside somebody�s house as you describe is available for use by any blue badge holder and not exclusively for the disabled person who lives in the house. (In practice, however, it is likely to be used predominantly by that person).

The fact that the person who lived there (and for whom the bay was originally provided) has died does not convert the bay back to normal use, but still reserves it for use by any blue badge holder. If the daughter who visits does not have a blue badge she is committing an offence by parking there.

You should contact your local council to explain the situation and ask that they convert the bay back to normal use.

thanks both for your advice it has really made things clearer for me.not sure if i will contact council or just grit my teeth and bear it, i dont want to be seen as causing any aggro.
