my friend has recently bought a house with her partner. her partner is not yet divorced but separated from his wife 3 yrs ago. he owned his own property for around 15 yrs before getting married, the marriage lasted 3 yrs. once he sold the property (2 yrs ago)he paid his wife 10k, the house was worth around 170k with a mortgage of 80k which was in his sole name (she was not on the dees either - but she did register a charge on property, which was lifted when he paid her the 10k). my friend is now worried that when her partner divorces his wife, which he hopes to do soon, she will be entitled to some monies from the house they have purchased together. would this be the case thanks....
his wife has also been left a share in her late fathers property which she will receive around 70k for, my friends partner does not want any of this but will probably have second thoughts if she tries to claim from his new house. There are no children involved.
