I have just had two weeks off sick with a slipped disc. I have sent my firm a doctors certificate and my company have informed me that sickness is paid at their decression, and that I have only been there for six months that I will be paid SSP. Can someone tell me if this means I wont get paid my full salary or is it topped up by the government?
No, you probably won't be paid for the first three days. Some places do pay you (like where I work) but others don't - as your company won't pay when you are off sick then I doubt they will pay you the first three 'waiting' days.
Twenty, I wasn't talking about the two weeks, for that I agree with you but they do have the choice to pay me for the first three. If you had one day off work and (not that you'd need it) a doctors certificate stating that you were unfit to work, would you not hope to be paid for it?
