parking fine

I am pregnant and desperatey needed to use the toilet. I therefore stopped not realizing that it was a no parking zone and was sent a fine after being caught on camara.
I have appealled the ticket but been sent a reply stating that this is Not considered a statisfactory reason to revoke the ticket.
I thought under law I was able to stop anywhere as a pregnant lady.
How does the law stand on this?

A Parking Fine, as I am led to beleive is not a criminal offence anymore. Dont pay it, you will get a letter, charging you �60 and then �90 and then NOTHING MORE.

I had 82 parking tickets the other summer and I didnt pay any of them.

It's laughable actually that pregnant women actually thinks there is a law especially for them so they are able to stop their car anywhere the feel like it just because they need to pee!

Pay up - you shouldn't have parked there and - get this - there is no law to say you can, Wow! What do you know? Pregnant women aren't disabled or ill, they are just pregnant

I understand that you may have added pressure on your bladder but you do not become desperate for the loo instantly

By law, you are entitled to pee in a policeman's helmet. Wonder if the same applies to traffic wardens??

pregnancy doesnt let you get away with anything and its shouldnt really either.

I can sympathise with the needing the loo often as i am 8 months pregnant myself, but you do get fair warning that you need the toilet. Certainly you get enough time to find somewhere to park thats safe and legal.

I had major bladder problems when I was heavily pregnant. I could be fine one minute, then suddenly in pain and bursting to go - it can happen like that unfortunately, probably due to the baby moving.

I drove to work one day, fine & dandy, and pulled up outside cos I was early and the gate was locked. Suddenly I needed to pee immediately, it was that bad I had to hide in the back of my car LOL, fortunately I found something to pee in (thank god my husband is untidy) otherwise I would have literally peed my pants. Would have been embarrassing had someone walked past and peered in but there you go...

Don't know anything about any laws though? If I ever have another baby I think I'll just carry a bowl and a funnel in my handbag in case of emergencies :o) Better still, wear nappies!

wow - its so amazing how ignorant and BORED some people are.......so, jusy for you pink kitten - yes there is a law actually and my fine has been revoked. As for being pregnant you obviously haven't been or else you wouldn't be so judgemental and ignorent. So, yet again just for future reference YES you can need to go to the toliet out of the blue. No two pregnancys are the same - so there you have it.
If any other unfortunate pregnant lady needs the loo in an emergency and you get a fine - challange it - send you proof of preg cert and if all fails get in touch with your local ombusman.

Dunno about peeing but I got involved in a thread awhile back where a guy thought he should not be fined for cycling on the pavement cos he had to get home to his wife who was pregnant.

A few points.

1) Until the end of the month when the new Road Traffic Act comes in to force (Traffic Management Act 2004) serving Penalty Charge Notices via CCTV is unlawful EXCEPT where there is a notice saying so, i.e Red Route, Controlled Bus lan etc.

2) A fine will stay live, in theory for ever. Do not be fooled by people saying they have hundreds. I am sorry to say their day will come. Whether bayliffs, clamping and removal or in the worse case scenario, a court case.

3) There is no special provision for pregnant ladies

4) If you do wish to contest the fine, my advice will be pay it first. Why?

a) If it goes to court they can not ask you to pay a higher rate

b) You will get you money back if successful.

c) It shows lawful duty to pay penalties. Paying a fine IS NOT an admission of guilt.

5) Should you be driving if your bladder is that weak?

6) By what you have said, I am afraid you deserve the fine. Harsh but that is the law.

7) Depending where you live, not all parking is as yet de-criminalised

8) You CAN NOT pee in a policemans helmet. Old myth.
