My neighbours son leaves two work vans parked in the street, it prevents friends/visitors from parking nearby. One of the vans is right in front of my window blocking the view. Do councils have regulations regarding parking work vans in residential areas or do I have to tolerate this?
there is a weight limit to vehicles parking in residential areas, but cant think what it is at the mo, but any vehicle that has valid tax and is not illegally parked i.e blocking a driveway or on yellow lines and is not committing any othere offence can park anywhere. Which means that these vehicles are possibly legally parked. contact the local police if the tax has ran out or they are on yellow lines as they will deal with this. They will also know what the legal weight limit is for residential areas.
if they are lorries then you probably have grounds, if they are just vans of the transit type size, then you can do nothing except get parked first. If you had 2 cars you would expect to be able to park them there if there was space, so does your neighbour. in fact you ARE expecting to park 2 ars (yours and your friend/family) but are not expecing them to be able to
Alternatively you could always try talking to your neighbour
