Anyone had any experience of these, specifically, are you required to sign and submit any paperwork before they proceed.

I ask because following a trip (got foot caught in an upturned rubber mat) in my local morrisons, I hurt my knees (one seemingly more than the other), recorded it as an accident,was off work for weeks (postman who can't walk is not a good combo), and had an MRI scan which eventually confirmed my knee had suffered a bad knock.

Well I rang one of these (National Accident), got past the filtering and spoke to a solicitor, who asked me loads of things, didn't say yes or no to whether I had a valid claim, but said he'd call back. He never has, though I did get a letter from NA confirming the solicitor approached.

Well until now I have been wondering whether they were attempting to deal with it out of court, which I guess would take time, but it has been a few weeks, and I am just wondering whether a claim may have been made or not. I will check directly when I get the chance, I am just interested in anyone else's experiences.

Duh, had the mat been flat, I wouldn't have caught my foot and tripped would I?. It isn't rocket science.

I have been going in that store every day nearly for coming up to 20 years with no mishaps whatsoever. I was looking at the veg, not my feet.

I don't actually agree with this mercenary practice of suing people left right and centre, having had some cow try it on when I hit her car (and working with her neighbour who she openly told she was putting it on) but when it is genuine, when I have lost money, as in my case, it's a different matter.

Surely, you should have been looking at where you were going?

This just about sums this country up now. People have accidents and suddenly it's someone else's fault. While it's sorry to hear that you had time off work with it, it was YOUR fault that you were looking at veg instead of concentrating on what was in your path.

Morrisons will pass the cost of whatever payout you get on to the customer. Why should people pay extra on their groceries because someone wants a bit of coin out of them?

It's a shop - if you are in a shop you go shopping. If you don't like the idea of them passing the costs on to you then don't shop there!

It IS their fault for having stupid little rubber mats - had none of this when it was a safeways.

Well yes you do go there to go shopping but not at the expense of leaving all common sense at the door. You still need to look out for obstacles, other people etc and not just walk around blindly in some kind of cotton-wool world.

How is it their fault for having mats?! That's like saying I ran over my foot with the shopping trolley but it's the shop's fault for having trolleys!

Typical of this country following USA, someone sneezes and you sue them for getting a cold. In my
view, you don't deserve a penny since its your fault.Supermarkets are full of obstacles.Its your responsibility to look out for them. And you need a multi-thousand pound equipment paid for by the NHS to confirm you hurt your knee? Are you serious?
