Irish passport holders working in the USA

Hi All Is it true that Irish Citizens get some sort of special dispensation if they want to work in the US? My boyfriend has Irish parents and with his degree would like to work in the States. Maybe it's rumour that I have heard but if anyone has a clue please answer back. Thanks

in the "green card lottery" irish people and NI natives are able to apply, whereas other uk citezens are not. Apart from that, i dont know, sorry
