Winter draws on (or winter drawers on)? Last week, my attempt to be provocative certainly worked. You all went "Cuckoo". I even had a phone call from a cuckoo with a Manchurian accent! Anyway, Mrs Crofter got home in one piece and enjoyed reading your many messages on AB. I always say that our relationship is psychological ~ I'm logical and she's psycho!

Our winner of last month's competition was ulysses100, named after King Ulysses of Ithaca, and he will be setting this month's link words. As things have worked out, I shall be launching the MM Links Game on AnswerBank tomorrow at 8.45am on his behalf with his four chosen words to be linked being declared at 9.00am. More details tomorrow morning!

We also run an international version of this same game (called KM Links) where the words to be linked are determined by the DT's Herculis Crossword. That usually kicks off some time after 06.30am! Here the score master is seekeerz from the Land of Oz. Why not try your hand at BOTH games? These competitions are open to everyone and ongoing until well into Sunday.

Once again, this being the first Friday in the month, it is Quiz Night at my local Cricket Club and tonight I am a humble punter! The clock is coming up to 19.00, so I'd better get this posted for the ramblings of the Shrubbery Squad to begin!

As for me, I am crofter, Keeper of the Rule Book and Sacred Abacus.

Happy Linking!

If you call our deep philosophical internet discussions of the intelligentsia of the Shrubber accompanied by a little light classical music "ramblings" there is no hope for any of us.

I hope Mrs Crofter doesn't find you totally cuckoo on your return from the excuse for a bender at the Cricket Club!

She drinks more than I. We share the driving ~ she drives there and I drive back!

I never knew that that theme tune was called "The Dance of the Cuckoos"! You live and learn!
But, which of you gets the most answers in the quiz right? Or is that an indelicate question?
Crofter, by way of strange synchronicity , just after I had posted the "Dance of the Cuckoos" I went to the back of the house here to find two farriers waiting to shoe a horse!
Are you sure they were farriers waiting to shoe a horse ?
Not doctors coming to take you away ?
Oh, ladyalex, I wish you were right
You WANT to be carted off ????
Or are you worried about the farriers' bills ?
Maybe the quacks when they take me off might me feel like this:

As to Lindisfarne, I saw many groups in various Newcastle clubs/venues but Lindisfarne were after my seven years up there but I did buy their first album when it came out (1972?)
