Your question is not clear. What exactly is happening? How long ago did you sell your home?

Have you given anyone Power of Attorney?
Nursing homes are not permitted to control your bank account in any way. Either you or an attorney has to run the account.

But I'm not sure that that was the question you were asking. There are rules as to how much money you can have and still get assistance with fees - doubtless someone else will have the details.
