if i died soon how could i leave all my money to my wife,,im not a millionaire but i have a good chunk of money in a bond with abbey bank....i am going in to hospital soon...just wondering how could i leave all my money to my wife if something unforeseen happened to me....thanks

A will at a solicitors?

is it just a case of writing my solicitor a letter ? do i have to pay for it ? how much ? anyone in the know please...thanku

I had to go into my solicitors and do a draft one first, then they sent it out to me to check it was correct and then I had the real one left at the solicitors. I think they cost about �90 ish.....

P.S I'm sure you will be ok in hospital but a will is a good idea none the less. I'm only 25 and as far as I know I am healthy etc.... I still made one...

You can write a will yourself (you can get kits from WH Smith or off the internet) or some charities will do it for free in the hope you'll leave something to them. But whilst writing a will can be easy you need to make sure it is signed and witnessed properly which can be difficult as you need parties to sign in the presence of each other. A Fpor peace of mind get a solicitor to do it- it won't cost much- maybe a �100


But you may not need a will to leave everything to your wife. In England I think it goes to the wife automatically, although probabte will still be needed. Do you have children? Do you live in England/Wales or Scotland (as it's different in Scotland where children have some rights to inherit)?

If you have no children all your money will go to your wife automatically if you have no will.

Well not automatically, there are formalities to go through, but subject to that she would inherit everything.

Still a good idea to make one though - the legal formalities are easier if there's a will.

Whether you have a will, or not, the legal formalities required to be completed wiould take a little time, and until that happens your wife could not get at the money.

What you should do is have some money in a joint account with your wife with one signature required to operate that account. Then Mrs soicowboy would have access to that money immediately.
