can anyone tell me what P F release means please. friend at court today. at case was abandoned because of this. regards Pat

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.PF, in Scotland, is an abbreviation for the Procurator Fiscal. That's the Scottish equivalent of the Director of Public Prosecutions in England.
If a case was abandoned at the request of the PF, it suggests that the prosecution have conceded that they've got insufficient evidence to obtain a conviction (or that it was 'not in the public interest' to take the case any further).
