New Road Sign?

On a local road I recently saw a new road sign, that I hadn't seen before.

This was a red bordered triangle with what looked like a snow flake in black on a white background.

I have later discovered that it is a 'Risk of Ice' warning sign.

How long has this sign been in existence on British roads?

They shouldn't be able to drive if they don't recognise road signs. Your page doesn't exist Mrs Y.

"More than half of London's motorists are confused by road signs, a survey has found.

Some motorists thought a slippery road sign meant they should be cautious of drunk drivers, an insurance firm said.

The survey also showed 50% of drivers did not know the sign for risk of ice and some thought a side winds warning sign indicated a kite-flying area.

More than half of London's drivers admitted they had not checked a Highway Code since passing their test.

The survey, carried out by Prudential Car Insurance, marks the 70th anniversary of the driving test."

It's another one of those pointless signs that should be melted down. We could remove a third of the roadsigns without having any effect, except that we might then take more notice of important ones.

Does anyone actually take the blindest bit of notice of it, except laughing at it in the summer?

I'm really worried now as I've never seen that road sign...........or if I have I can't remember.....

Must be nice to know the highway code off by heart, cover to cover.

I doubt the likes of another-view or Zacsmaster know every road sign, in fact I bet they don't even know where their directional indicator switch is, because it would appear that most boastful driver like them don't.

Not far from me a new sign has been erected recently.It's the falling rock one, don't understand as the sign is higher then the hedge that's behind it !

That sign had no additional sign below with the word ICE printed on it, as the one illustrated.

Passed it again today the complete sign has now been removed, and further down the road a cardboard/plastic type one as now been tied to a post, still with just the plain snowflake, no ICE printed on it.

Don't know what is cracking off, can only assume the road authorities are just trying to use up their end of the financial year's budget up.
