annoyed at refusal of refund!
For my birthday i was given a pair of brand new ghd straightners from a local hairdressers.
But, as i already had a pair the person who bought them for me gave me the receipt so i could take them back for a refund.
So i did this today and went into the shop with my receipt but the hairdresser told me that the shop 'did not do refunds unless there was a fault'.
am i correct in thinking that this is against the law and that as a consumer i am entitled to a full refund as i have proof of purchase and they are in the exact same condition they were bought in?
any help would be greatly appreciated!

(Unless, of course, there's a fault with the item).
You might, for example, buy an item of clothing in a shop and (before you've even walked away from the till) realise that you've picked up the wrong size. If you seek an exchange or refund the shopkeeper has every right to say "Tough. Get out of my shop".
