In the case of an IVA it is no concern of any other person, although you should inform your employer. If this woman tells all and sundry there is probably not a great deal you can do, if she told lies about you then you could sue her for slander, but the thing is it would be the truth. What a cow, my guess is that in these times, there are probably quite a few of the parents, and possibly some other teachers who have an IVA running, so don't feel ashamed.
Hello
Nice neighbour you have there..
No you dont need to tell your work, you only need to tell them if you work in the financial sector i.e. accountant (like me) or work selling insurance or work in an bank.
Dont think there is any law because slander would need to be proven.
However, what they are saying is the truth.
Just hold your head up and say they are just causing trouble and there is no truth in the rumours ride it out say you are not bothered and it may never happen

If you think she is serious about this, I suggest the best thing you can do is to see the school Head and explain. Tell him/her that you have a vindicative b.... of a neighbour who is threatening to tell all and sundry.
Your IVA is absolutely nothing to do with your employer (or the childrens' parents) and there is no rational logical reason for them to be in any way concerned about it. What it means is that - like very many other people - you have some financial difficulties. But unlike quite a lot of people you are not hiding your head in the sand but have taken action to deal with your problems. You should be applauded for that, not vilified by an ignorant nasty neighbour.
